Next Sunday... a Vintage Treat in Norfolk

Today I have been getting bits & bobs ready for the Little Vintage Lover Fair at Heydon Village Hall near Norwich (Norfolk - the UK one!).

I have some lovely classic vintage leather handbags that were my dear Aunt Thelma's.  She was a very classy dresser and I have been fortunate enough to have been given a few treats from her over the years.

Anyway my little business Butterflies & Hurricanes is getting an outing.  Not so much happening with it this year & the website is pants but I'm a bit tied up in the full-time job.  However LVLF events are always lovely & there will be sunshine (we are outside) smiles, treats, cake & cuppas.

Its held in a pre-war village hall which is very cute in itself.  The hall will be filled with goodies & glorious finds such as Bobo Bun who collects & makes gorgeous things.

Mummy Butterfly & I will be outside at the back of the hall - the naughty corner I suspect!

For this event Butterflies & Hurricanes presents Vintage Boudoir Chic.

We have an eclectic mix of glass dressing table sets, trinket pots, candle sticks, hand mirrors, negligees, vintage stockings, cushions made from vintage fabrics, vintage jewellery, handmade jewellery made from old beads, vintage handbags and any other niceties that we find along the way.  Oh we also have a selection of craft & vintage books which are perfect for a bit of light bedtime reading.

It's going to be lots of fun, please do come & say hellooooo
xx  Claire & Rona  xx

10am until 4pm
Refreshments & tasty treats available.
Heydon Village Hall, The Street, Heydon, Norfolk.  NR11 6AD £1.00 entry.

Vintage Lovers

Sunday was a Little Vintage Lover Fair in Burnham Market, North Norfolk. Mummy Butterfly & I had a lovely day eating Zoe's home-made mini Victoria sponge cakes with real cream yummy!

The stall was pretty eclectic and we had lots of new things and little bits & bobs like bags of vintage buttons which went down very well. The new cards & gift tags flew out the rather nice writing case that Mama cleverly displayed.

We purchased a few things of course... Mummy bought these great postcards from lovely Julie at Beach Bygones and I still in my Grace Kelly mood snapped up a 1950's feather skull cap.
It is feeling more at home now it has made friends with my Stetson & awesome orange vintage favourite.

A Vintage Find

As I was having a little look around the Langham Street Fayre last Saturday I found the most gorgeous stall filled with loveliness.

A pretty collection of vintage finds, handmade items and revamped & reupholstered antiques.

The very creative Deborah who is the proud owner of this fabulous stall has a website coming soon at www.sovintage.co.uk but you can register and be informed when it launches so that you won't miss a thing!

Not the best photos ever as I was trying to snap shots between customers but hopefully you can see how lovely everything was.

A very busy craft & vintage market

Wow, the attendance for the Waterfront Market in Ipswich was incredible. Deben Events certainly know how to advertise & there were loads of blogs, flyers & emails bouncing around telling anyone who might listen. Many thanks to all who helped pass on the good word xx

It was sunny much of the day, the location was gorgeous and the stalls were brilliant. Too many nice things to buy & lovely stall holders to gossip about vintage with.

As always it was great chatting to the owner of the most unique stall & fellow blogger Beach Bygones stall is literally all about the beach – vintage swimsuits, floral swim hats, picnic baskets, wind brakes …. It’s brilliant.

Also there was my fabulous vintage loving friend Emmie looking brightly coloured and very pretty – a contrast to my harsh & haggered all black & lack of sleep look! I thought it was fine to go to a Keeping Abreast Charity Ball & get 4 hours sleep & then pop off to do an event. Not drinking helped, but maybe should have returned home before I became a pumpkin!!

Then there was the rather glamorous Kathy who we were on a stall next too. She packs her rail & high end vintage clothing into her convertible – no boring estate car or small van for this lady! We did however discuss the merits of a magical pop up stall… if only they existed!

The little pussy cat went to a good home too.

Anyway, it was the day of the t-shirt & vest top. There was a lot in interest in the vintage scarf tops & the new granny vest. Looks like I had better get making before the Woodbridge Weekender (another brilliant event of vintage & contemporary niceness on Sat 12th & Sun 13th June in Woodbridge Suffolk)..

It was a nice but long day & by the time I got home I was pooped. Pizza, a hot bath & bed for me.

What will Christmas bring...

Well I have worked like crazy and partied even harder over the last few months. It's been loads of fun, but my little body is feeling the strain now. My Christmas wish is for a huge lay in (preferably without hangover)!!
The picture of fabulous Audrey is a little like me last weekend after an opulent ball in London. I woke up complete with make up, jewellery still on & my tiara & entire bag contents lying on the bed next to me - classy!! Oh dear.
Anyway I foolishly invited lots of neighbours over to my parents house for mulled wine & mince pies for Christmas eve. I see more champagne corks popping and a headache on the horizon! I never learn.
Christmas eve is always a dressy affair for the family, it's a good chance to get the posh frocks out of storage and I do have some rather splendid vintage gloves that I haven't worn yet...

and did I show you the glitter ball handbag? This bag is so fabulous that it's inspired me to have a dinner party early next year all decorated in white & silver.... the photo doesn't quite do it justice.

Waking up with my glitter ball shimmering and throwing sparkles all over my bedroom is rather lovely too. I think it might stay up after the festivities!! x

Little Vintage Lover Fair

Well what a well attended event this was. Well done Zoe! It was a lovely day and Mummy Butterfly & I were on the stage ha ha. That is to say that we had our stall on the stage, I haven’t been on stage since Guilty Pleasures in Camden last month when Jooles & I thought it would be sooo kool to dance on stage to various 80’s classics (oh dear, I never learn!).

Anyhoo back to le weekend. There were loads of stalls fitted into the Sussex barns near the lovely north Norfolk town of Burnham Market.

I treated myself to one of Zoe’s homemade glittery cupcakes yum & ended up with glittery lipstick all day!

We had lots of sparkly new jewellery on show and I hand made some candles and some Victorian image Christmas gift tags especially! Both went down rather well. I even found some vintage baubles to put on display!!

I treated myself (again) to some long pink gloves which come past my elbows. They may get an airing at the Christmas Dinner on Saturday, perhaps I should dust off the tiara too!!!

Looking forward to more Vintage Lover events next year.

A very vintage weekend

I had a lovely Vintage weekend. Saturday was a trip to the seaside. I went to Southwold with my mater & pater to visit a vintage fair that had come highly recommended. Well it was so good that we stayed for lunch, and afternoon coffee & ended up being late home & had to rush off to our respective dinner parties! The atmosphere was electric, there was live music & singing of many songs pre my time!! One rather talented gentleman was playing a wood saw with a bow rather well indeed. Heath & safety probably wouldn’t like that!! Ha

All 3 of us treated ourselves to some unusual things. I got a lovely Marylin Monroe styled dress but I shall be keeping away from any air vents! I did parade around on Sunday’s vintage fair rather proud of my smashing new frock.

There was a rather wonderful 3

wheeled Morgan parked up outside the vintage fair that I just had to take a photo of. This is my papa standing next to it – pretending like it’s his ha ha. He had a great day at the Vintage fair as his RAF issue moustache was very much admired by several of the ladies there!!

I have also included a snap of the lighthouse to show you a little corner of Southwold – it was too cold & blustery to get my hands out of my pockets by the seafront, so sadly no photos of that.
