Shiny disco balls

Well we made a new friend at the weekend, Abi who is a rather cool fashion & textile student & looks like Twiggy in the sixties. Mummy Butterfly apparently also looked like Twiggy in the actual 60's. I think I missed a trick here!

Anyway Abi is trying to make earrings like the glitter balls in the iconic photo. Does anyone have any ideas on the where to find baubles / balls like this? - I have actual mini glitter-balls but think they might be a little vicious to wear!

However I am off to visit an ace vintage fair (in Woodbridge)& a couple of carboot sales (weather permitting) this Easter weekend so maybe I will find some suitable components as well as a few other nice surprises mmmmm xx

On Safari

Well I promised photos of some of the Safari Collection.
These are made mostly with handmade clay beads, expertly painted and glazed by talented ladies in Kenya.
The photos don't do them justice. The beads are gorgeous and incredibly rich colours. The animal markings beads are amazing.

We had an event on Saturday at which mummy butterfly got to make jewellery all day - she was in her element. We also had help from a young design student Abi - thanks. She is a a walking Twiggy tribute (very cool, awesome make-up). More about that later.

ll there were lots of lovely comments on the pieces, many are winging their way to Big Blue Sky (shop in Wells-next-the-Sea, Norfolk) this weeks. We have sold quite a few already which is the nicest complement he he xx

Jewellery Out of Africa

Mummy Butterfly got back from a chance of lifetime painting trip in Africa with Hazel Soan last week. She also bought some amazing handmade beads which might just end up being made up into some very cool statement piece jewellery (mostly she will be parading them herself - any opportunity to chat about Kenya!).
We have been collecting tribal & safari inspired beads & bangles for some time now and with the trend hitting the catwalks, we are ready to launch!
I'm off to buy a new camera tonight as I sadly dropped mine boo hoo. So I will get some photos up on the blog & onto the Butterfly website too.
We are also at a Buy Local event in Norwich Forum (the amazing glass library building) tomorrow 9-5 and we will be demonstrating jewellery making, t-shirt painting & anything else we think to pack the car with!!
the safari collection will also be on show and available for purchasing too - two pieces sold yesterday already to friends who just popped round, how exciting!!

Anyway I hope you all have a great weekend xx
